Elijah was an Aeronautical Engineer, working at General Dynamics (Lockheed Martin) in Fort Worth, Texas, all of his working career.

Nick married (2) 30 Dec 1966 in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, Mira Kirk Pace (daughter of Hartsel Pace and Mazie Mosher). She was born 16 Apr 1935 in Brighton, Adams County, Colorado.

Nick graduated from Amarillo High School, in May, 1947, and from college with a Bachelor of Science in History degree in 1954, and again with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1960. He enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve, and spent more than 31 years on inactive duty.
He joined the Amarillo Police Department and attained the rank of Captain as Superintendent of Identification and Records in 1955. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum in 1955, and took an early retirement in 1985.
